About this blog

This is a space to talk about UK government history. If you like history, we hope you find it a useful resource.

This blog aims to give insights into the history of government - its development, its departments and some of the roles and people involved.

Topics will be varied. Expect domestic and foreign issues, single event analysis and wider overviews, medieval, modern and contemporary history. Some posts may be first-hand accounts, others commentary pieces.

This blog builds on the monthly articles by guest historians previously available on the Number 10 website. Read more about them on the No 10 guest historians’ page.

Now curated by The National Archives, posts are written by historical experts from both inside and outside government.
