D R Thorpe is a historian and biographer of three Prime Ministers: Sir Anthony Eden, Sir Alec Douglas-Home and Harold Macmillan. He is a senior member of Brasenose College, Oxford. His most recent book is Supermac: the life of Harold Macmillan (Chatto and Windus, 2010)
